together with clay and the pigment and applied it to the walls with paint brushes. When the paint was fully dry, we returned again to seal the job. For this, we mixed up some casein paint. Casein paint is a natural alternative to toxic latex paint made from milk. Valeria gave Jen M. some natural powderized mica mineral she'd been saving for years, to add a sparkle to the bathroom walls.

Jen McGown's Earth Painted Walls

Natural builder Jen Bamford and her two little kids visited from Winnipeg in May 2005. Jen specializes in earth painting, so we organized a workshop/project so that Jen could teach us about it. Earth
paint ( or Alis) is generally used as the final layer of earth plaster on natural walls, but can be applied to conventional walls as we did on local MudGirl and musician Jen McGown's drywall in her newly built house on the south end.
The first day we glued crumpled white tissue paper to the walls that were
to be painted. This is to provide texture and give something for the earth
paint to cling to.

A couple of days later, we all met back at Jen Mc Gown's house and sifted sand, mixed up flour paste and mixed it all
