In May of 2006, a crew of Mudgirls and friends travelled up to Cortes Island. We spent 5 days camping and beginning the work on Karen's cob cabin on her land near Whaletown. We started by clearing the land, erecting the driftwood posts and beams, digging a drainage ditch, filling it with gravel and building a dry rock foundation. August, Pachiel and I came back a week or so later and spent 10 days building the roof. We started by putting up rafters and building the box for the skylight and splitting shakes out of cedar shake bolts. We built a Star of David into the roof. During the last days we put up the stringers and nailed on the shakes and finally raised the pyramid skylight in the center of the roof. The house was designed by the Mudgirls and Karen with sacred geometry in mind as well as acoustics. She will use it for her healing work with crystals and didgeridoo.
