In the evenings we had discussion groups on topics like permaculture, the history of earthen building, raw food, alternative energy, and even got belly dancing and East Indian dance lessons from two of the course participants.
There were walks to the beach to cool off and de-mud, quiet rainy nights, struggles with tarps, late night talks, a weekend at the annual Lasqueti Arts Festival, amazing food by Darzo, morning trumpet wake-up calls by Pachiel, and an end-of-the-course pizza party around the dragon oven including dancing and jamming with the local MudGirls and friends. By the end of the workshop, the cabin was already half built.
Later that summer we hosted our 2nd public workshop.

The first public Mudgirls workshop took place in late June of 2005. Fifteen women of all ages and from all over BC came to
Lasqueti,
camped on our land, and for two weeks began building my very own twelve
foot
round cob cabin in the woods. We built a dry rock foundation, erected cedar
posts, raised huge beams, used cob to build half the height of the walls, and
installed all the windows. Women got creative with coloured bottle design,
mosaic tiling, and cob sculpting.
