The Mudgirls on Lasqueti spent rainy days of the winter of 2008 beach combing, splitting cedar posts, rails and pickets and putting up this great cedar fence around Ray and Soozie's orchard and cob house. The fence is made from all locally sourced beach wood. Not only is using beach wood great for the environment, it has been treated for rot by being pickled in sea water.
By using reclaimed cedar from beaches and from the forest floor, we do not have to cut down a living tree to use this valuable resource.
