Courtenay Plaster Course

In September 2006 a crew of five mud girls gathered in Dove Creek to finish Susan's cob and strawbale house that had sat unfinished for ten years. With the help of four to ten people a day who came to learn the endless creative potential of earthen plasters and paints, we applied two to four layers per wall of natural plasters made of clay, sand, fibers like straw and cattails, wheat paste and natural pigments. We also used Litema (traditional african plaster made of manure and clay) Thanks to Susan's horse Avalon for her contribution.
