In September 2006 Auguste and Jen led a two day workshop and Allison and Bethany's home in Merville. Eight of their friends came to help out and learn while we did earthen renovations on their conventional house. We earth-painted over drywall, in-filled a stud wall with cob, and built a cob hearth pad and backwall for thermal mass around the wood stove. It was a fabulous weekend of mixing cob in the rain, gourmet food by Bethany, experimenting with building cob using forms, and merging the worlds of modern conventional building and ancient cob techniques.
